An authentic, beautifully patinated antique Japanese Suzuribako (writing/document box) dating from the Meiji period (1868–1912). Brought over directly from Japan, this is a wonderful piece of traditional craftsmanship, perfect for collectors or as a unique Wabi-Sabi interior design statement piece.

PRODUCT DETAILS:

Function: Traditionally used by merchants or scribes to store calligraphy tools, inkstones, seals, and important documents.

Construction: Made of solid Japanese wood with a stunning prominent grain, heavily reinforced with hand-forged iron corner guards, plates, and sturdy hinges.

Layout: Features a top-opening lid revealing a main compartment, two smaller upper drawers with ring pulls, and one large lower drawer with a traditional handle. Features a heavy-duty iron carrying handle on top.

Condition: Excellent antique condition with a rich, authentic patina. The structure is solid and sturdy. The wood and ironwork show natural age-related wear, which adds immense character.
